Seated 360. The shoulders were made to move in many ways. Think of a rock climber, a fighter, a dancer, any and every athlete, etc. Exercises involving rotation build a different kind of strength. Your muscles are connected through different ‘fascial lines’ that (when properly channeled) have the potential to create lots of rotational power. Throwing, wrestling, and punching all rely on these power transfers. Not only to create power but also to preserve it. Watch someone super tense try to box or play with a mace and they will burn out quickly due to ‘too much’ tension. Lastly, I like this variation for a few reasons: 1) posture: if I’m not straight I will hit my butt or the bench 2) lumbar lock: in this position my lumbar spine can’t move all that much which forces a better position and allows me to work on my tighter spots. 3) balance: I’m fighting to keep my toes and feet engaged and gripping the floor which also activates my core. The second a toe pops up I feel loose in the middle. 4) it’s fun, cool, and makes me feel like a Viking. 😎👍 ——————————————————— #cavemanstrong #steelmaceexercises #mace #indianclub #kettlebell #strengthtraining #seatedmace360 #donthaterotate
Home training.. I believe every person should have some space and some equipment to use when at home. We should surround ourselves with these things. Instead we buy bigger TV’s and bigger sofas. These things slowly kill us and rob us of what we are designed for.
Once you have some basic knowledge you can literally train/move anywhere. All I’ve done here is put together 5 movements that I felt like doing today. One club, a couple kettlebells, no big deal.
The moves:
1) club: leverage presses and single arm 360’s..
2) one arm row in a wall plank.
3) single arm overhead squat.
4) lunge press.
5) kickstand deadlift
Nice and easy little circuit hitting most major movement patterns. Took about 45 minutes, then a sauna, bam. Life is good! ———————————————————

Throwback to my days working with @henryburris1 and @gotter85 of the @cflredblacks. Love these guys. Not just serious about their training but quite simply: a couple of everyday awesome guys. Each session was a lot of fun.
Both of them had great seasons when I was working with them. They won a grey cup, Hank won finals MVP and sailed off into the sunset.
You know what I did with them? Tons of unilateral work, tons of kettlebell work, piles of rotation, tons of carrying heavy weights, lots of crawling and low to the ground movement, all with a nucleus of mobility and what each guy specifically needed. Not too many barbell squats, hang cleans, or bench presses. When I met them both, it was and still is the last things they needed.
Assess. Evaluate. Find the weak links. Ask a million questions. Know when to push and when to REST. ———————————————————

5 weeks out!! Our retreat with @tribewirenosara and @thefootcollective is fast approaching! This pic is of one of the amazing spots we will get to train at each day. As I write this I can feel that hot jungle air igniting every cell in my body. Not to mention the ocean, mountains, and jungle. We are super pumped to be doing this with our own community not to mention people from all over North America. We are sitting at 20 people 👍👍!! But, we still have room. Join us for the trip and experience of a lifetime. ————————————————

Last nights ‘kids athletics and movement’ class.
In this class I have mostly 10-13 year olds with a couple younger ones. French, English, boys, girls, dancers, hockey players, football players, absolute non-athletes, tight kids, flexible kids, etc.. What do they all have in common? They all need to move and move well in order to ‘first’ function well as they age and ‘secondly’ they need to move well in order to specialize in whatever it is they decide to choose (hockey, dance, etc).. FIRST: Move well as a human being SECOND: specialization. How many parents (with good intentions of course) do the opposite?? ——————————————————-
Unsure what this means for your child? Give me a call or message. 👌🏻😎
——————————————————-
Maybe your child isn’t a fan of sports, gym class, etc?? That’s ok and quite normal for so many kids. The truth is though - they NEED to move in order to function well as they age. The good news is most kids in that scenario love what we do at the gym. FYI ———————————————————

I know I’ve been there. Down and out, eating shitty food, skipping workouts, not caring about sleep, etc. We all do it. Some more than others. Why? Why is a deep question that only each individual knows. It’s past trauma, stressful moments, insecurities, ancient stories, and so on. BUT!! There’s a way out. It’s starts with owning it. Owning your weakest parts. Owning your bullshit stories. Owning the shitty food, alcohol, drugs, etc you keep taking. I’m not saying it’s easy. Nothing worth a dam is easy. I’m saying there’s a way out through owning all of it, asking for guidance, and taking serious action. ———————————————————‘’But Tyler, I don’t know what to eat, how much to eat, how to train, how to meditate, how to ... do any of the things that can get me on a better path’?? ———————————————————

I think most trainers, coaches, and teachers are empathetic. It’s just something I’ve noticed over the years. You wouldn’t be successful without it. So I feel the industry tends to be filled with people who want the best for the people they work with and help.
I also feel that the main thing stopping most people from advancing with their own health is... themselves. People literally sabotage themselves with ‘I’m too this’, I’m too that’, etc all day long - year after year. We all do this btw! The trick is realizing it, stepping outside of it, and getting some guidance in order to turn the page once and for all. Let us help you.
The key is to commit, listen, apply, and trust in the process. Call today 613-551-2751 or 613-362-0429 —————————

New Year Plan?! Many avid gym goers, trainers, fitness people, etc tend to poke fun at the ‘New Year crowd’. The jokes are endless aiming at the large mass of people that will start heavy after the New Year and quit before the following February rolls out.
I’ve actually changed my stance on this. Anything (date, end of year, etc) that motivates people to focus and make positive change is definitely a good thing. The problem isn’t your determination and will power. The problem is your lack of ‘knowing what to do’ with that determination and will power.
The average person starts running or buys a membership at a gym, or signs up for a competition of some sort, etc. All good intentions no doubt but without guidance from a professional you will surely run into problems and then god forbid be another New Years statistic.
I say use the New Year to catapult yourself forward and once and for all make some serious headway with your health and fitness.
Here’s your plan:
1. Start with a one on one session with any of the professionals at CavemanStrong. See where your weak links are, examine old injuries, etc. It all starts with a brief movement and diet assessment.
2. Option A: start with 10 private training sessions to learn the basics (squat how to, kettlebell basics, Bodyweight basics, etc). This method of introduction has been our most successful for anyone new to proper movement training. Knowledge will empower you!
3. Option B: Skip the private training and jump in on our group program. Our group program is very welcoming and guidance is constant. Take the guesswork out of what to do, what truly matters for your body, etc.. and join our group. We tend to attract a crowd of 30 years and up. If you don’t wish to be in a class filled with younger people than you’ll like our classes.
4. Diet: Book our very own Kylie Jurchuk (Holistic Nutritionist) and figure out what’s wrong with your food and supplement choices and how you can make them more effective.
5. Lastly, commit commit commit to this process once and for all. Your best YOU is right around the corner!
6. Call today and strike while the iron is HOT! ————————

Such an amazing gift from one of my young athletes. When someone takes the time to make you something it’s worth way more than any store bought ‘stuff’. This truly made my day and many thanks to him and his family. ————-
